WinRelan is a Windows-based software application developed by Univ. Prof. Dr Josef Zelger to support qualitative text analysis and knowledge organization. It implements the GABEK method (Ganzheitliche Bewältigung von Komplexität) to help researchers and practitioners transform interviews, open-ended survey responses, and other unstructured texts into clear, evidence-based insights. Users code statements into keywords and define relationships—such as support, contradiction, cause–effect, or thematic proximity—which the software aggregates into semantic networks, hierarchies, and visual maps that reveal recurring themes, connections, and tensions.
Designed for end-to-end projects, WinRelan streamlines workflows from text import and coding to visualization and reporting. It includes tools for managing dictionaries and synonyms, tracking frequencies and co-occurrences, navigating source contexts, and producing presentation-ready diagrams. WinRelan is used in areas such as strategy development, organizational learning, evaluation, and stakeholder analysis, where transparent synthesis of qualitative knowledge supports better decisions.
